HIGHLANDERS Football Club are not in a hurry to find a substantive chief executive officer after the club parted ways with Nhlanhla Dube whose contract expired at the end of last month.

Highlanders chairman Johnfat Sibanda said they had not yet initiated the process of finding a suitable candidate for the post as they were focusing on the club's Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on 30 January, which will be followed by elections for the vice-chairman and treasurer a week later.

Ronald Moyo, the club's media and communications officer has been acting CEO since October last year when Dube was sent on leave.

"We are going to initiate the process of finding a substantive CEO, obviously we have to fill the post, but it's only been vacant for a few days and there is someone acting,'' Sibanda said.

On Friday, Sibanda announced that the club had parted ways with Dube.

Dube, who had been Bosso's head of secretariat since 2017 when he took over from the now late Ndumiso Gumede had his contract with the club expiring at the end of December. He finished the last three months of that contract on leave.

"Highlanders Football Club takes this opportunity to inform its members, sponsors, partners, stakeholders and fans that the club and its Chief Executive Officer Mr Nhlanhla Bahlangene Dube have agreed amicably to part ways.

"Mr Dube, having served the club in the role of CEO for a period of four continuous years having taken over the role from the late Mr Ndumiso Emmanuel Gumede who went on to serve as the club President until his untimely passing away, takes a bow to pursue other interests,'' said Sibanda.

According to Bosso chairman, Dube, an ex-elected office bearer at the club remains committed to serving Amahlolanyama.

"Mr Dube, a former Club Executive Committee Member and Secretary remains a committed Club resource and life member available to the club as and when he is needed.

"The Club wishes him the very best in his future endeavours and thanks him for his diligent and committed service to the club,'' concluded the statement from the Highlanders chairman.

In November, this publication reported that the Highlanders executive committee had decided not to renew Dube's contract since they felt that he had not added any value while he occupied the post.
