Zimbabwe to issue biometric title deeds

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promised the residents of Epworth that he will give them biometric title deeds so as to deal with fraudsters who may print their own title deeds.
He was speaking at the ZANU PF victory celebration on Saturday.
Said the President, "When we were printing title we were told that there are people who are printing their own fraudulent copies so we instructed the printers to stop printing so that we issue you with biometric title deeds that are similar to e-passports."
During the by-election campaign Mnangagwa said he is preparing title deeds for tens of thousands of Harare residents considered to be illegal occupants in several .
Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said handing out title deeds would be a game-changer and likened the move to the attainment of independence in 1980.
"I am confidently told that by now probably 80 000 houses have been mapped and given addresses. The President will be there to give each one an address, an identity," Mutsvangwa told journalists at a Press conference at the party headquarters.
"The signature act of the Epworth visit would be to grant title deeds to the existing stock of urban houses which the people have and have never used and are dead capital.
