Former Botswana President Ian Khama has accused the Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi leds government of being behind the death of former Commissioner of Prisons and Rehabilitation Colonel Silas Motlalekgosi who passed on last year.

According to Khama, Motlalekgosi was murdered because he refused to comply with a directive to be part of an elaborate plan to kill the former Botswana strongman.

Speaking to SABC over the weekend, Khama said, "There was an Intelligence Commissioner who approached the the Commissioner of prisons and told him that I am going to arrest Khama and bring him to your cells. I want you to get a prisoner with a sharp object to stab him and kill him.

"The Commissioner refused and he was fired and later he was killed."

Motlalekgosi passed away in July last with official government reports saying he succumbed to COVID-19 related complications.

As a former soldier himself, Motlalekgosi was close to the former President Khama.
