A HARARE man claims he had a close shave with death when his wife grabbed and pulled his genitals, following a misunderstanding.
Alias Mutonha said he was living in fear of his wife, Privilege Chikangedze, who is bullying him.
The dispute came to light at the Harare Civil Court where Mutonha opposed Chikangedze's peace order application.
"For the sake of peace, I will agree that she acquires the peace order she prayed for. The truth is that I am being abused by Chikangedze.
"Recently, she almost killed me when she grabbed and pulled my genitals after we had a fight.
"Chikangedze is a big liar, our children stay with my mother in the rural areas.
"So, how come she mentioned something about me locking her and the children outside the house in the affidavit?" he said.
In response, Chikangedze admitted she pulled her husband's private parts, in self-defence.
"My husband is trying to hide behind a finger since he knows he is an abusive man. I don't have peace of mind since we got married, he insults and assaults me.
"He is in the habit of locking me outside the house, together with our minor children, whenever we have a dispute.
"He comes and causes havoc at my workplace and I don't know what to do anymore," she said.
Presiding magistrate, Sharon Mashavire, granted the peace order in Chikangedze's favour.
