Controversial South Africa based Bulawayo socialite Mike Marata has been embroiled in a contentious property sell transaction which has landed former Vice President Report Phelekezela Mphoko's lawyer Zibusiso Ncube in hot soup.
According to state papers seen by this reporter, Marata bought the 'stolen' property on 4 December 2019.
The papers reveal that in 2003 that one Smith Moyo bought a piece of land in Bulawayo's Marvel township of Killarney.
The land, belonging to the seller Maxwell Sibanda, was supposed to be transferred to Moyo but that was not done.
In 2015, Moyo engaged Ncube who obtained a judgment to the effect that Sibanda must transfer the property to Moyo.
The state also alleges that Moyo approached Ncube so that he could conclude a deed of settlement, in which the former would inherit a debt on the property belonging to Sibanda on the property, since it was sold to him awaiting transfer of title.
On 28 December 2016 it was transferred to Moyo under deed 1771/2016. The state further alleges that on 4 December 2019 Ncube sold the property to the controversial socialite Marata without Moyo's approval.
Ncube is said to have worked together with messenger of court called Mgcini Moyo.
The accused persons are said to have prejudiced Moyo of $326 174,33 and US$500.
