Speaking to this publication, the Chairman of Gukurahundi Victims Trust Charles Thomas said, "We read with concern that one of our Bulawayo sons and leading lawyer in the region was failing to pay parking fees and the matter had escalated to the courts of law.
"As an organisation that is pursuing peaceful co-existence and integration in our country after the unfortunate dark period in our history we decided that we would rather sleep without bread and butter but contribute in clearing the bill for one of our sons who is leading practitioner but failing to pay US$20 for parking fees.
"It must be noted that as an organisation we hold our sons and daughters in high esteem including the leading lawyer Masamvu and our son of the soil Lizwe Mabuza who is the Chairman of the technical partner in the Bulawayo parking system. We call for peace and calm and urge the City Fathers, TTI and the Bulawayo motorists family to find each other through an already publicly announced All Stakeholders Indaba."
Thomas added that his organisation will continue to participate in assisting the people of Matabeleland and Midlands who were victims of Gukurahundi in dealing with economic and socio-political issues affecticting them.
Masamvu is one of the three founding partners of MMD Law Chambers . He holds a Bachelor of Laws Honours degree from Midlands State University. He joined Dube Tachiona and Tsvangirai in January 2014 and became an Associate Partner in January 2019 .
