Arrested ex-cop burns police cell blankets

An ex-member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Kaitano Kanyemba and his two accomplices are in soup after they burnt cell blankets while there were in custody over cannabis dealing.
The matter came to light at Guruve magistrates court where Kanyemba, Oscar Chinete and Kudzai Godfrey Nyandoro pleaded not guilty to the charges before magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.
They were remanded in custody to September 21.
The state led by Albert Charewa alleged on September 7 the trio was arrested for possesssing cannabis without a licence and were locked in police cells.
The trio connived and light a match stick by rubbing it on the floor to smoke cigarettes and ended up burning cell blankets.
They are facing two charges that is malicious damage of property and unlawful possession of dagga.
