Parliamentary Committee meets to discuss Agriculture Minister Masuka

Members of Parliament are allegedly not happy with Gokwe-Nembudziya MP Mayor Justice Wadyajena's vindictive efforts to punish Agriculture Minister Dr. Anxious Jongwe Masuka.

A Harare based MP from the Nelson Chamisa led CCC who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity said Wadyajena was using the committee to try and fight his US$5.8 million COTTCO case.

The MP told this reporter that the Parliamentary portfolio committee on Agriculture is meant to meet Monday 19 December specifically to deal with Dr Anxious Masuka.

Political analyst John Mbizvo said, "Temba Mliswa and Dexter Nduna stepped aside from committee chairmanship when they had legal issues that affected their committees but it is surprising that Jacob Mudenda and Kennedy Chokuda allow Wadyajena to lead a committee that has oversight on Agriculture matters when he has business dealings with Cottco and other entities under the same committee's jurisdiction."

It's bad corporate governance and it compromises the integrity of the committee, added Mbizvo.

Wadyajena is said to believe that Minister Masuka gave the instruction to prosecute Wadyajena and COTTCO senior management.
