Ex-Zanu-PF MP loses land fight

Former Zanu-PF Mt Pleasant legislator, Jason Passad, has suffered a legal defeat in a dispute over ownership of residential plots at Donnybrook Farm near Mabvuku in Harare.

Eastwind Trust, a local land development company, had taken legal action against Passad and his company, Homegram, for their occupation of the land.

High Court judge Benjamin Chikowero ruled on October 11 that the former MP must vacate the land. The judgment stated, "The first and second respondents shall restore to the applicant possession of all and any land occupied, possessed, controlled by the applicant situated at the remainder of Donnybrook Farm Salisbury Township in Mabvuku Tafara." The ruling also instructed the Sheriff of Zimbabwe, with the assistance of the police if necessary, to ensure the peaceful and undisturbed restoration of the land to the applicant.

Additionally, Homegram Investments Pvt Ltd and Passad were jointly ordered to cover the legal costs of the applicants.
