21 Oct 2023 at 13:56hrs | Views
Six female teachers at Tshabili Primary School in Beitbridge East have left their jobs due to alleged sexual abuse by malevolent entities, commonly known as goblins.
The teachers claim they were sexually assaulted during the night, and as a result, some of them have refused to return to the school until it has undergone spiritual cleansing.
Beitbridge District Development Coordinator, Sikhangezile Mafu-Moyo, acknowledged being aware of the situation but directed further inquiries to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. She mentioned that a meeting was scheduled to take place to address the issue.
Freedom Muleya, the District Education Officer, confirmed the forthcoming meeting but emphasized that the matter extends beyond the scope of the education office and requires the involvement of the community, traditional leadership, and local authorities. Reports of these incidents date back to as early as January.
It is worth noting that a similar incident led to the closure of Majili Primary School in Bubi district, Matabeleland North province, in June 2022.
