A bid to get superpowers from a python hide given to Professor Sibanda by a traditional healer hit a brick wall after he was arrested.
The 30-year-old Sibanda was arrested for contravening section 45 of the Parks and Wildlife Act.
He was dragged to Plumtree magistrates courts yesterday where he appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
Nembaware sentenced him to one year in prison and conditionally suspended six months.
Prosecutors said on September 27 and at around 0700hrs police officers who were on patrol at Ngulubeni mines received information to the effect that Sibanda was in possession of a python hide
On the same date, the team went to Sibanda's house, carried some searches leading to the recovery of a python hide
Sibanda was subsequently arrested and the value of the python hide is USD 1500.
He indicated that he had been given the python hide by a traditional healer so that it can protect him.
