In a recent incident along the Cross Dete-Binga road, a 41-year-old man, Justine Chunzu, narrowly avoided a fatal accident while driving a truck for Dinson Quarry Company in Hwange.

The incident occurred in the late hours of Monday when Chunzu's truck collided with a Haulage truck transporting cement.

Chunzu is currently facing charges for driving without due care and attention in connection to the collision.

According to official police reports, the incident unfolded on November 20 when Chunzu was operating a truck loaded with sand from Hwange to Kamativi.

As he navigated a blind curve near the Kamavimba bridge at the 24km peg along Cross Dete-Binga road, he suddenly encountered a slow-moving Haulage truck carrying cement.

The larger vehicle was positioned at the center of the road near the bridge.

In an attempt to avoid a collision, Chunzu swerved to the right side of the road, ultimately colliding with the right corner of the Haulage truck's trailer. The impact resulted in damage to the chevron and a tire, while the horse cap of Chunzu's truck sustained serious damage.

The incident was promptly reported to the ZRP Kamativi, and subsequent police investigations revealed that no injuries occurred to individuals from either party involved.

Chunzu was subsequently charged with "driving without due care and attention" and was required to pay a fine in connection to the incident.
