Binga, November 21 - Angeline Batsirai, a 49-year-old businesswoman, faced a harrowing ordeal in the early hours of Tuesday as four unidentified men executed a robbery at Manyanda Business Centre.

Batsirai, who operates a business in the center, was asleep alongside her eight-year-old son when the incident transpired. At approximately 12:30 am, she awoke due to the sweltering heat and noticed four masked men with a torch lurking near her shop.

Concerned, Batsirai bravely investigated, shining light through her window. In response, one of the assailants retaliated with their own light, while the other three forcibly entered the bedroom through a loosely secured door. A brutal confrontation ensued as one of the robbers seized Batsirai by the neck, demanding cash.

While three of the criminals ransacked the room for money, Batsirai, forced to kneel by her bed, endured repeated physical assaults. After a prolonged and violent episode, she reluctantly surrendered $600 USD to the robbers. However, their greed persisted, as they demanded every remaining cent.

The criminals intensified their search in both the shop and bedroom. Eventually, one of the assailants dragged Batsirai to the shop, pressuring her for more cash. Despite her insistence that she had nothing left, the perpetrators left her unharmed. Seizing the opportunity, Batsirai sought refuge in the nearby mopane bushes.

In vain, the robbers attempted to locate her using torchlight but failed. Emerging from hiding the next morning, Batsirai discovered her son unharmed, covered in blankets left by the criminals.

A formal report of the robbery was filed with ZRP Kamativi, prompting ongoing investigations to apprehend the four assailants. The total amount stolen amounted to USD 600. The community remains on edge as they await updates on this distressing incident.
