A MAN from Bulawayo's Emthunzini suburb died at his in-laws' house after he was thrashed with an electric cable before he was allegedly stabbed in the neck with an Okapi knife.

The incident was confirmed by acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.

She discouraged community members from resorting to violence whenever they are involved in disputes.

"We would like to discourage community members from resorting to violence because that leads to unnecessary loss of life which could have been avoided," she said.

While they were boozing Fios Ncube got intoxicated and tripped on the opaque beer of his neighbours — Mbalenhle Ncube (22), Themba Moyo (26), Hloniphani Sibanda (26) and that did not go down well with the trio.

A source said in a fit of anger Ncube reached for a plastic dish and hammered Fios on the head several times. He screamed for help prompting his mother-in-law Sithembinkosi Tshuma (55) to rush to the scene and she found him bleeding from the head.

"His mother-in-law took him to her home and he slept in one of the bedrooms. After a few minutes he returned to the scene and found Ncube, Moyo and Sibanda still there taking beer. He grabbed Ncube by the collar of his shirt and violently pushed him against the wall," said the source.

Things turned bad for Fios as Moyo reached for an electric cable and reportedly thrashed him several times all over the body.

"Fios fell to the ground, Sibanda took out a knife from his pair of trousers pocket and stabbed him twice in the neck. He was rushed to hospital for treatment and later died while he was receiving treatment," said.
