The incident took place at approximately 1400 hours, where a funeral was being held at number 59 Shashe Crescent, New Mabvuku. The funeral drew a large crowd of mourners, some of whom had gathered in the garden opposite Michael Nyasulu's residence, causing damage to his property.
An altercation ensued when Nyasulu asked the mourners to move away from his garden. Subsequently, Nyasulu went to a nearby beer hall and, upon returning home, found himself targeted by an unknown individual who observed him wearing a ZANU PF cap. Munyaradzi Febion Kufahakutizwi, identified as the accused, allegedly approached Nyasulu, grabbed him by the collar, and assaulted him with clenched fists. The assault was reportedly based on an accusation that Nyasulu had thrown stones at the mourners.
In an attempt to escape the assault, Nyasulu fled and was rescued by his brother, William Nyasulu. Subsequently, Michael Nyasulu reported the incident to the ZRP Mabvuku, where he filed an official complaint. The complainant underwent a medical examination, and a medical report has been prepared, which is expected to be presented in court.
