CCC activist jailed for robbery

A thug wearing a CCC T-shirt who robbed ZAR800 from a fellow villager in September was finally sent to prison at Plumtree magistrates courts yesterday.
Nsukukazifani Luphahla was sentenced to 18 months in jail by magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware.
Mr Nembaware suspended six months for a period of 5yrs on condition the Luphahla does not within that period commit any offence of which violence on the person of another is an element for which upon conviction is sentenced to imp without the option of a fine.
A further 6 months imprisonment suspended on condition he restitute the complainant the sum of 800rands through the clerk of court by 29 February 2024
Hence 6 months imprisonment is effective.
Prosecutor Mr Selestine Madziva, told the court that on 26 September Luphahla (23) in the company of five others who are still at large all from Sikhathini Village in Plumtree robbed Artwell Munyongawere of his cash amounting to ZAR800.
According to the court's case, the accused together with his unidentified accomplices ambushed the complainant while he was coming from Sikhathini Business Centre, grabbed him and searched his pockets before fleeing away with cash.
Fortunately, the complainant managed to identify the accused the very same day at the Business centre while he drinking beer and reported him to the police leading to his arrest.
