Tensions within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) reached a new peak as Southerton legislator, Bridget Nyandoro publicly clashed with that party's Movement Mobiliser Amos Chibaya on social media.
The dispute escalated with Nyandoro threatening to expose Chibaya as a hypocrite who allegedly undermines that party leader, Nelson Chamisa.
A source revealed that a CCC WhatsApp group became a battleground for Nyandoro and Chibaya, with the latter labelling the former a Zanu-PF spy and an enemy of the CCC movement.
WhatsApp chats obtained by this publication show Nyandoro's discontent with Chibaya, whom she branded a traitor secretly conspiring with that party's secretary-general, Sengezo Tshabangu.
In one heated exchange, Nyandoro warned, "Yesterday you wrote hogwash about me ndikanyarara. Nhasi wapamhazve. It's fine nyora kechitatu uone what will follow. I am in possession of your videos and audios dzaunonyeya mukuru ne meeting dzese dzawakaita na Tshabangu and you are scheduled to meet him in Gweru on Sunday."
Nyandoro accused Chibaya of being duplicitous, presenting himself as a loyal lieutenant of Chamisa while secretly backstabbing him.
"Zuro ndizuro you said President (Chamisa) vane nharo havaudzike and havana plan in front of Hwende (Charlton), Kore (Lynnette) and Tobaiwa (Judith) but you want to try and fabricate stories to push some of us out of this party. Haa manje unonyepa ini hapana kwandinoenda. I am here to stay," reads part of the chat.
Further intensifying the feud, Nyandoro threatened to take her revelations to social media, a move that she said would unfortunately and unwittingly expose not only Chibaya but also other CCC members.
She expressed regret that in her bid to expose Chibaya's alleged duplicity, other party members might be inadvertently implicated.
These internal conflicts come at a time when the CCC is already grappling with factional fights, following the recent recalls of legislators and councillors initiated by Tshabangu.
This latest episode of infighting underscores the deepening divisions within that party, posing a significant challenge to its unity and effectiveness in the political landscape.
