Women to celebrate Africa Day in style

Women in football in Mashonaland Central are going to celebrate Africa Day through a tournament in Bare on May 25.
Mashonaland Central women soccer vice chair Udzanai Gode said three constituencies are Mazowe North, Muzarabani South and North respectively.
The tournament is being sponsored by the Ministry of sport.
"We are going to celebrate Africa Day through sport at Bare and so far four teams from three constituencies have joined at $30 joining fee," Gode said.
"The teams are Bare queens the host, Muzarabani Queens,Frankton ladies, Quiet Rockets and Jonah Queens Football Club."
He added that various companies have been approached to sponsor the event.
The provincial chair weighed in saying their aim is to fight early marriages,drugs, gender based violence among other imoralities within the society.
"We are fighting all social imoralities through sport and our theme for the tournament is (No place and no one should be left behind in fight against gender based violence, child marriage,cancer, drug and substance abuse in Muzarabani and Mazowe districts through women football to achieve vision 2030," she said.
Patients Chitondo who is chairing the executive of the tournament said everything is now in place for the tournament and urged people to come and support the ladies.
Meanwhile, women soccer in Mashonaland Central province league is yet to start.
