Quartet in court for trying to bribe rape victim

Four suspects were nabbed and dragged to Plumtree magistrates courts on Friday after they tried to convince a rape victim to change her statement in court.
Phulumani Moyo (39), Sibangubukhosi Moyo (40), Casben Moyo (23) and Elson Malunga (30) appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware who remanded them in custody to May 29.
The state alleged on May 22 the complainant was at Plumtree magistrates courts waiting to attend court session at 1400hours.
The four suspects asked the complainant to escort them to the shops to buy food since they had enough time before court.
The complainant agreed upon arrival Phulumani paid for a hair cut to the barber shop and got her barbed while Sibangubukhosi bought her drink and biscuits.
The four got in a room with the accused and tried to convince her to change her rape statement.
They wanted her to say that she consented to sex and was not raped.
The complainant filed a police report leading to the arrest of the four.
