UMKHONTO WeSizwe (MK) has engaged with the African National Congress (ANC) regarding the formation of a coalition government. These discussions are focused on negotiating with an "open mind, while firmly prioritizing the inspirations and aspirations of the South African majority, particularly the black population."
The ANC is currently negotiating with several South African political parties to form a coalition government after failing to secure a majority in the recent elections. MK is led by former South African President Jacob Zuma.
MK spokesperson Mr. Nhlamulo Ndhlela confirmed that engagements with the ANC have occurred and that a meeting will be held "soon."
"A meeting is expected to take place soon, where the MK Party will listen to the views presented with an open mind, while firmly prioritizing the aspirations of the South African majority, particularly the black population," he stated.
"We commit to engaging solely in the future of South Africa, prioritizing the interests of the people, especially the black majority who are poor, unemployed, homeless, and landless, over the interests of white monopoly capital and markets. Any coalition must focus on eradicating systems that perpetuate political subjugation and economic enslavement of our people," added Mr. Ndhlela.
