In a dramatic turn of events, notorious self-styled Italian Mafia boss Francesco Marconati has been arrested for failing to conduct the community service mandated by the court. His son, Alessandro Marconati, is reportedly on the run. The arrests stem from a warrant issued by the Harare Provincial Head of the Judiciary Services Commission on June 6, 2024.

Sources close to the developments have confirmed that both Francesco and Alessandro Marconati were supposed to fulfill their community service obligations from April 3, 2024, to May 3, 2024. The warrant of arrest was issued after it was proven that neither had complied with the sentence. The directive instructed police officers and other law enforcement personnel to apprehend the father and son and bring them to court to face the consequences.

The Marconatis were sentenced to community service  following their conviction for threatening to kill business partner Li Song if she did not withdraw charges against them. Li Song, a director and shareholder of Eagle Italian Shoes (Pvt) Limited and Eagle Italian Leather (Pvt) Ltd, had also accused Francesco Marconati of illegally removing her from her position and replacing her with his son Alessandro. Furthermore, Francesco was found to have fraudulently altered company documents to seize control of the company's bank accounts.

Despite the clear mandate, reports surfaced that the Marconatis had not personally undertaken the community service, instead allegedly delegating the tasks to their employees. This blatant disregard for the court's ruling prompted the issuance of the arrest warrant.

Francesco Marconati is currently being held at Braeside Police Station, pending his court appearance.
