Future Ncube, a 25-year-old from Makwika Village in Hwange, Matabeleland North province, has been sentenced to an effective 32-month jail term for 32 counts of unlawful entry.

Appearing before a Hwange magistrate on charges of aggravated unlawful entry, Ncube received a 48-month sentence, with 22 months suspended on the condition that he restitutes $33,277 to 17 victims by August 31, 2024.

Ncube's criminal activities involved breaking into homes primarily to steal cellphones. His spree, spanning from December 2023 to May 2024, targeted multiple households in Makwika Village.

His arrest on May 24 followed an incident where he was caught stealing cellphones at Lubangwe Business Centre in Hwange, leading to police investigations that linked him to numerous break-ins.

The magistrate also enforced a suspended six-month sentence from a previous conviction, making Ncube's total jail time effectively 32 months.
