15 Jun 2024 at 06:02hrs | Views
Bulawayo's Nkulumane market is scheduled to open by the end of the month, with vendors already being allocated spaces.
The project, nearing completion, is a collaboration between the Bulawayo Vendors and Traders Association (BVTA), Bulawayo City Council, Dan Church Aid, and the United Nations Development Programme Zimbabwe.
BVTA executive director Michael Ndiweni confirmed the impending official opening and noted that partners are finalizing the construction. The market will feature 16 bays primarily for vendors selling horticultural produce and will benefit around 400 farmers in the Bulawayo area by providing a ready market for their goods.
The market will serve several western suburbs, including Pumula South, Pumula Old, Emakhandeni, Entumbane, Cowdray Park, and Richmond. Ndiweni also mentioned an upcoming market fair on June 28 to further support local horticulture farmers.
