The National Democratic Working Group (NDWG), spearheaded by former Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala, has launched a scathing critique against President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Zanu-PF government, accusing it of jeopardizing Zimbabwe's democratic aspirations.
NDWG's acting chairman, Wurayayi Zembe, denounced Mnangagwa's administration as illegitimate, corrupt, and a threat to democratic freedoms.
Addressing journalists in Harare, Zembe highlighted rampant corruption and governance failures under Mnangagwa's regime, emphasizing the urgent need for democratic reforms.
NDWG expressed deep concerns over Zimbabwe's escalating economic hardships, citing skyrocketing unemployment, inadequate salaries, and repression of various sectors including workers and students.
The group called for fresh elections to establish a democratically elected leadership, stressing the importance of aligning governance with the will of the people.
NDWG's strong stance reflects widespread dissatisfaction with Mnangagwa's rule and underscores calls from opposition parties, such as the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), for electoral reforms ahead of the upcoming SADC summit in Harare.
