Prince Dube nets hat-trick

Prince Dube, the Zimbabwean forward and Warriors' striker, was in sensational form on Thursday, scoring a brilliant hat-trick for his Tanzanian club, Young Africans (Yanga), in their 3-2 win over Mashujaa in a league match.
Dube, who joined Yanga this season from Azam, opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute, benefiting from a precise pass from Pacome Zouzoua. His second goal came just 14 minutes later, in the 21st minute, when Clement Mzize provided the assist.
The striker was far from finished, however. In the 52nd minute, he completed his hat-trick, finishing off a brilliant pass from Kibwana Shomari, ensuring his side's victory and his place in the headlines.
Dube's impressive performance is likely to have caught the attention of Warriors coach Michael Nees, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers just around the corner in March. His form has been steadily improving, and he will be a key figure in the national team's upcoming campaigns.
Young Africans' coach Sead Ramovic praised his team's overall performance, despite conceding two goals. Speaking to The Citizen in Tanzania, Ramovic said: "We played very well despite conceding two goals. We are improving steadily and are confident of reaching peak form to defend the league title."
The defending league champions have now moved to third place in the Tanzanian Premier League standings, with 30 points from 12 matches. They trail leaders Azam (33 points) and second-placed Simba SC (31 points).
The hat-trick was a much-needed boost for Dube and his teammates, who are facing a demanding fixture schedule. Young Africans will host Tanzania Prisons tomorrow and then take on Dodoma Jiji on Christmas Day.
Last Saturday, Dube was also on target in the 1-1 draw with DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League, helping to keep Yanga's hopes alive of progressing to the lucrative stages of the continental competition.
In the coming weeks, Dube's side will face TP Mazembe again in the return leg of their CAF Champions League tie, just two days after New Year's Day.
Since joining Young Africans from Azam, Dube has continued to impress with his goal-scoring form. So far this season, he has netted three goals in the league, while Kenya's Elvis Rupia leads the scoring charts with seven goals.
As Young Africans aim to defend their league title and make a deep run in the CAF Champions League, Dube's hat-trick performance will surely be a catalyst for his team's success.
