Great Zimbabwe University radio presenter collapses and dies

Great Zimbabwe University has announced the sudden death of its campus radio producer and presenter, Natasha Mala, who collapsed while at work and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
In a death notice issued to stakeholders and the public, the university expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Tavita Natasha Mpala, describing her as a vibrant and dedicated member of the GZU Campus Radio team.
“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that, on behalf of Great Zimbabwe University, we announce the passing of our colleague, Tavita Natasha Mpala, the vibrant producer and presenter at GZU Campus Radio, who sadly passed on this afternoon,” read the notice.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, 17 October 2025.
The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists also released a statement mourning Mpala’s death, describing her as one of the most talented broadcasters and presenters in the country.
