HARARE - Businessman Wicknell Chivhayo has sharply criticised former Citizens Coalition for Change legislator Fadzayi Mahere, arguing that Zimbabwe does not need her to remind citizens about the need for new leaders.
Posting on his X account, Chivhayo said the country's future depends on strong builders rather than loud commentators.
"Our future depends not on who shouts the loudest, but on who builds the strongest. In this moment, we must ask ourselves: what kind of leadership does Zimbabwe truly need?" he wrote.
Chivhayo dismissed Mahere's remarks as mere commentary, insisting that Zimbabwe requires patriotic citizens who deliver tangible results.
"We don't need people like Fadzayi Mahere to remind us that we need new leaders. That's not leadership, it's commentary. What we need are patriotic citizens. It's time we stop glorifying noise and start celebrating impact," he said.
He added that patriotism should be defined by sacrifice, service, and results, not slogans.
"We need leaders who invest in Zimbabwe, not just talk about it. Leaders who unite, not divide. Leaders who inspire hope, not hostility. Zimbabwe's future depends on it. We do not need new leaders," Chivhayo declared.
His comments came after Mahere posted that Zimbabweans aspire to prosperity, opportunity, and progress, but achieving this requires serious discipline and reform.
"We want to regain our standing in the community of nations, but we know that it shall take serious discipline and reform," Mahere wrote.
