A violent robbery unfolded in the early hours of 20 November when Bennedict Dadaya (52), headmaster of Mabvazuwa Primary School, and his wife, Christine Mutondoro, were attacked by eight armed intruders at their home.

Acting Manicaland police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed that the assailants, wielding machetes, knives, and sticks, overpowered Dadaya around 2 a.m., tying his hands and legs and stabbing him on the shoulder and back. The gang demanded cash and cellphones before ransacking the property.

"The accused persons stole two motorcycles from the dining room, loaded them into Dadaya's recently purchased Toyota D4D double cab, and also took a 32-inch television and various clothes," Chinyoka said. The vehicle, recently bought from a Ministry of Health and Child Care auction, had a third plate number GCHW 1050.

During the ordeal, Dadaya's wife was threatened and handed over US$100 and two cellphones. The total value of stolen property is estimated at US$8,790, and none has been recovered so far.

Dadaya was treated at a local hospital for his stab wounds and subsequently discharged. Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the public for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
