Zimbabwe Supreme Court Judge dies

Supreme Court Judge Justice Feliciah Chatukuta has died at the age of 63. She passed away in Harare on Saturday, 22 November 2025, reportedly after suffering a cardiac arrest.

In a statement confirming her death, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) said Chief Justice Luke Malaba, together with the judiciary at large, had extended heartfelt condolences to the Chatukuta family.

"The Chief Justice of Zimbabwe and Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Hon. Justice Luke Malaba; the Judicial Service Commissioners; the Senior Judge of the Supreme Court; Judges and Magistrates; the Secretary of the Judicial Service Commission; and all members of the Judicial Service would like to express deepest condolences to the Chatukuta family on the passing on of Supreme Court Judge Honourable Justice Feliciah Chatukuta in Harare on Saturday 22 November 2025," the JSC said.

Justice Chatukuta had a distinguished legal career spanning four decades. She was appointed a Judge of the High Court on 29 August 2005, a position she held for 16 years until her elevation to the Supreme Court on 3 June 2021.

A graduate of the University of Zimbabwe, she earned her LLB degree in 1985 before embarking on a varied legal career. She served as a Public Prosecutor, worked as a part-time lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe, and later served as a director at the Legal Aid Directorate, contributing significantly to access-to-justice initiatives.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
