Two residents of Mabvuku appeared in Harare Magistrates Court on charges of unlawful possession of firearms after police recovered three pistols from one of the accused's garden.
Tamari Tikiza, 43, and Shepard Maisiri, 58, appeared before Magistrate Ruth Moyo following an investigation by CID Homicide Harare. The firearms were reportedly received for safekeeping from Clever Chada, who was arrested in January 2025 in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting Mukuru Money Transfer outlets in Harare.
According to the State, detectives acted on information received on November 21, 2025, which indicated that Chada had instructed his wife, Erinita Chingosho—currently at large—to hide firearms he had used in the commission of the robberies.
On November 22, police visited Tikiza's residence, where she confirmed receiving the firearms from Chingosho with instructions to conceal them. Tikiza admitted taking the weapons to her nephew Maisiri's residence to execute the plan.
Following her guidance, detectives recovered a black plastic bag from Maisiri's garden, which contained three pistols: an AUT 6.5mm, a Browning Spatene Depose, and a Patented Colt pistol.
The two accused are set to return to court as investigations continue. Police warned that they are intensifying efforts to track down other individuals connected to Chada's network of armed robberies.
