CHEGUTU - Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a violent robbery and rape incident that occurred on 4 December at a plot in Lismore, Chegutu.
Confirming the arrest via their X account, police identified the suspect as Trymore Phiri (26).
"The suspect, along with two accomplices who are still at large, allegedly attacked the complainants at their residence. They broke into the house, threatened the occupants with Colombian knives while demanding cash," police said.
The suspects reportedly stole a Bluetooth speaker, three cellphones and US$80 in cash. Police said Phiri then entered another room where he found a 19-year-old woman asleep, threatened her with a knife and sexually assaulted her.
