The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has discharged former Assistant Inspector Simbarashe Mandizvidza following allegations of improper and unbecoming conduct linked to statements he reportedly made in August this year.

In a statement, police confirmed that Mandizvidza is no longer part of the service, saying the decision followed internal disciplinary procedures.

"Simbarashe Mandizvidza is no longer a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police," the statement read. The ZRP noted that the dismissal was finalised on December 3, 2025, after "duly constituted and appropriate administrative procedures were effected."

Mandizvidza allegedly made treasonous statements on August 13 and 14, 2025, prompting the internal inquiry that led to his discharge.

The police said the Commissioner-General maintains a zero-tolerance stance toward criminal behaviour and disorder within the ranks, emphasising that the law enforcement body will continue enforcing discipline in accordance with the Police Act.

"The Commissioner-General of Police does not condone criminal acts and unruly conduct by police officers," the statement added.

The ZRP said disciplinary action remains central to preserving professionalism, integrity and public confidence in the service.
