Simba Bhora have appointed Mandla Mpofu as their new head coach, marking his return to the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League after a two-year absence.
The Shamva-based club officially unveiled Mpofu on Wednesday after he signed his contract, replacing Joel Luphahla, who recently left Simba Bhora to join FC Platinum earlier this month.
While the club has not publicly disclosed the finer details of the deal, NewZimbabwe.com understands that Mpofu has committed to a two-year contract.
Mpofu last coached in the Zimbabwean top flight in 2022, when he parted ways with Highlanders FC. Since then, he has been based in Botswana, where he has built an extensive coaching profile in the Botswana Premier Soccer League.
He joins Simba Bhora from TAFIC United, a club he took charge of in July this year in what proved to be a brief stint. Mpofu has previously coached several other Botswana Premier Soccer League sides, including Sua Flamingoes, Masitaoka FC and Nico United.
His appointment signals Simba Bhora's intent to strengthen their technical bench ahead of the new season as they seek to consolidate their status among the country's top teams.
Meanwhile, Simba Bhora have also begun reinforcing their squad, unveiling former Whawha FC player Calum English-Brown as their first signing of the current transfer window. The club confirmed that English-Brown has signed a two-year contract that will keep him at Simba Bhora until December 2027.
