Man assaults ex‑wife while demanding lobola refund

PLUMTREE – A Plumtree man who confronted his estranged wife demanding a refund of the lobola he paid to her family has landed in trouble after he allegedly assaulted her during the dispute.
The matter came before the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court where Spazamu Dube (35) appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing an assault charge.
Dube was remanded in custody to 9 January.
According to court papers, Dube met his ex‑wife, Shamiso Tshuma, in Ndutshwa Village, Plumtree, where he demanded that her family return the lobola he had paid.
A misunderstanding reportedly ensued, and Dube allegedly struck Tshuma with open hands.
A police report was filed, leading to his arrest.
Sheilla Nyathi prosecuted.
