The gold-rich community of Penhalonga's Tsvingwe medium-density suburb was left stunned after a 35-year-old man died following a domestic dispute with his two wives, police have confirmed.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, said the incident occurred on January 5 at around 7:40pm. The man, identified as Brighton Mhungu, was involved in a heated argument with his two wives, Bridget Nhopore and Brenda Nhopore (25), who are believed to be sisters, over his intention to marry a third wife.

According to police, tensions escalated at the family homestead, after which Mhungu left the premises. His body was later discovered the same night inside his blue Honda Fit, which was parked by the roadside about a kilometre away from the homestead. The vehicle and body were discovered by a relative, Benson Nhopore (54).

A report was subsequently made to the police, and the body was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka urged families to seek mediation and peaceful dialogue whenever misunderstandings arise, saying early intervention could help prevent tragic outcomes.

Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are continuing.
