Two men killed as explosives detonate on motorcycle in Chikuti

Two men died instantly on Monday afternoon when mining explosives they were transporting on a motorcycle detonated near Chehanga in Chikuti, Hurungwe District, Mashonaland West Province.


Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident, saying investigations are underway to establish what triggered the explosion.

Preliminary information indicates that the blast caused fatal injuries to both men, with the impact destroying the motorcycle and scattering debris across the scene. Authorities are working to determine whether the explosives were being transported safely and what may have caused the detonation.

Inspector Kohwera said further details will be released as investigations continue.
