Abel Muteji, a former Chapungu and Zimbabwe Under-23 defender, is appealing to well-wishers for financial assistance after a serious leg injury left him struggling to make ends meet.

Muteji, the twin brother of the late Cain Muteji, was involved in a freak accident at a garage where he was working last year, resulting in a severe leg injury that required surgery and metal implants. Despite the operation, he continues to experience significant pain.

Since retiring from the Air Force of Zimbabwe, Muteji has faced ongoing economic challenges. He has tried to earn a living repairing cars and working as a car salesman, but has struggled to support himself and his family.

During his playing career, Abel and Cain were part of a legendary Chapungu squad that featured notable players like Maxwell "MaRhino" Dube, Nkulumo Donga, Wellington Shangiwa, Thomas Banda, and the late Pascal Masamba. The twins were also finalists for the 1994 Soccer Star of the Year award.

In his appeal, Muteji specifically called on businessman Wicknell Chivayo and other generous Zimbabweans to assist him with startup capital to relaunch his mechanic business. "If given the opportunity, I can survive and even employ others, supporting our president's mantra of leaving no one and no place behind," he said.

Those willing to assist Abel Muteji can contact him directly on +263 773 351 050.
