Former Zanu-PF central committee member and outspoken critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Blessed "Bombshell" Geza, has died at a hospital in South Africa.

Geza's family confirmed his death in a statement on Thursday, saying funeral arrangements were underway and further details would be communicated in due course.

"We urge Zimbabweans to be strong during this trying moment. Funeral arrangements are being made, and we will share the details soon," the family said.

Sources close to the family said Geza had been suffering from a heart-related ailment and had been unwell for some time.

Geza rose to prominence in recent years as a vocal critic of President Mnangagwa, whom he accused of corruption and betraying the ideals of Zimbabwe's liberation struggle. His outspoken stance placed him at odds with the ruling party's leadership.

In March 2025, Geza was expelled from Zanu-PF following a series of public statements critical of the party and government. After his expulsion, he went into hiding after calling for nationwide protests against Mnangagwa's administration.

He also faced several criminal charges, including incitement to public violence and undermining the authority of the president.

Geza's death comes at a time of heightened political tensions in Zimbabwe, with his supporters and critics alike reacting to the news across social and political platforms.
