Landlord kills tenant over dinner dispute, promiscuity row

MVUMA - A 24‑year‑old man from Mushayabvudzi in Mvuma was fatally stabbed on 31 January after a domestic dispute escalated into accusations of infidelity. The suspect, 25‑year‑old Aleck Chaminuka, has been arrested and is in police custody.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Chaminuka became angry after returning home from Chivhu to find that his wife, Caroline Hofisi (23), had not prepared dinner, saying she had just returned from church. A dispute broke out, prompting Hofisi to seek refuge in the room of their tenant, Tanaka Musiiwa, where she was received by Musiiwa’s wife, Portia Zigahwi (19). Portia later informed her husband about the altercation.
When Musiiwa arrived home, Chaminuka allegedly accused him of having an affair with his wife. An argument ensued between the two men while their wives remained inside Musiiwa’s room.
According to police, Chaminuka then took a knife and stabbed Musiiwa once. Neighbours rushed the injured man to Mvuma District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Chaminuka has since been arrested, and police say investigations are ongoing. Authorities have urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully.
