ZRP appeals for identification help as human remains found near Gweru River

KWEKWE - Police in Kwekwe are investigating the discovery of unidentified human remains near Gweru River in the Jena Mines area of Silobela on 8 February 2026.

The remains were found by Nkosana Mgezwa (39), who immediately alerted authorities.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said police are appealing for information that may assist in identifying the deceased.

"Informant is Nkosana Mgezwa, aged 39 years. He was on his way home when he discovered scattered human remains in the bush. During scene attendance, police also discovered clothes of a female adult about 20 metres from the human remains," Mahoko said.

He added that investigations are ongoing and urged members of the public with missing relatives to come forward.
