Zimbabwean international Tawanda Maswanhise has been named the Scottish Premiership January Player of the Month, capping off a sensational run of form for the 23-year-old forward.

The in-form striker received the accolade on Thursday after topping the votes for the league's standout performer in January. It marks his second Player of the Month award in as many months, having also claimed the honour in November - a clear statement of his growing influence in Scotland's top flight.

Despite missing one match for Motherwell F.C. at the beginning of January, Maswanhise netted five goals in just four appearances, underlining his clinical finishing and consistency in front of goal.

He now leads the scoring charts in the Scottish Premiership with 13 goals, edging out B. Greyn, who sits one behind on 12.

Maswanhise's impressive domestic campaign came despite a temporary interruption when he joined the Zimbabwe national football team for the Africa Cup of Nations. Upon his return, he wasted no time rediscovering his scoring touch.

During the January transfer window, the Zimbabwean forward reportedly turned down approaches from several Scottish clubs. However, interest in his services continues to grow, with Italian giants AS Roma now said to be monitoring his progress closely.

With his stock rising rapidly, Maswanhise's red-hot form is not only thrilling Motherwell fans but also putting Zimbabwean football firmly in the spotlight.
