The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested Norest Jingura (35), a bogus police officer, and Alison Maredza (43), a member of the security services, for drug peddling and trafficking along the Harare–Beitbridge Road near Bubi.
The suspects were intercepted in a Toyota Hilux (registration number AGP 1412), owned by Maredza. Jingura was reportedly wearing a full police uniform with Assistant Inspector rank badges at the time of the arrest.
A National crack team recovered 120 cobs of dagga from the vehicle during the operation as it was en route to Harare.
The ZRP has launched comprehensive investigations to determine how Jingura obtained the police uniform and is urging the public to remain vigilant against drug trafficking.
Authorities emphasised their continued zero-tolerance stance on drug peddling and trafficking, reiterating the importance of community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.
