Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has gifted five brand-new vehicles to the leadership of Highlanders FC following the club's 1-0 victory over rivals Dynamos FC in the Jairos Jiri Charity Cup over the weekend.
Chivayo, a prominent benefactor of the Bulawayo giants, said the victory signals that the club is on a revival path. The vehicles were allocated to: club chairman Luke Mnkandla, CEO Denzel Mnkandla, head coach Benjani Mwaruwari, club curator Jabulani Nkomo, and club legend Madinda Ndlovu.
"A motivated and well-led team will always deliver results. Highlanders FC's 1-0 victory over Dembare clearly shows that Bosso is on the rise. We are surely set for an interesting 2026 Premier Soccer League season, where Highlanders FC shall offer stiff competition against all odds," Chivayo posted on social media.
In addition to the vehicles, Chivayo announced he would disburse US$500,000 to the club, fulfilling the balance of a US$1 million pledge made last year. "This effectively brings the total sponsorship to US$1,000,000 as per my undertaking. It is my sincere hope and expectation that, with such financial support, the club will be able to sign on new players and adequately motivate the current players by attending to their welfare and needs," he said.
Last month, Chivayo donated a team bus to Highlanders as part of efforts to strengthen the club's operational capacity. He also played a key role in the appointment of head coach Benjani Mwaruwari and continues to cover his salary.
With Chivayo's backing, Highlanders FC aims to capitalize on the momentum and deliver a strong performance in the 2026 Premier Soccer League season.
