The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon Felix Mhona, has officially opened a one‑kilometre rehabilitated section of the Harare Drive Extension, stretching from Southerton Police Station to the Simon Mazorodze roundabout, popularly known as paChinzou, in Harare.

The ceremony was attended by Harare Province political leadership led by ZANU‑PF Provincial Chairman Goodwills Masimirembwa, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province Charles Tavengwa, parliamentarians and senior government officials.

Speaking at the event, Hon Mhona said the Second Republic, under President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is accelerating efforts to rehabilitate previously neglected roads to ensure smooth traffic flow across the capital.

“We are here today at the extension of Harare Drive where you have seen that we have actually dualised this section. The essence of this project is to make sure that we promote trafficability for our people in this great city,” he said.

Hon Mhona added that the project reflects the broader infrastructure development agenda being pursued by the Second Republic.

“Above all, I want to give thanks to the Almighty for affording us this time to showcase what the Second Republic under the leadership of His Excellency Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa is doing,” he said.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has embarked on a nationwide programme to rehabilitate all urban council‑controlled roads, beginning with Harare Province.
