Police in Bulawayo have reportedly blocked a public meeting organised by the Public Policy Research Institute of Zimbabwe (PPRIZ) to discuss Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, 2026. The event had been scheduled for 2pm today at the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.

Invited speakers included Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart, Zanu‑PF Bulawayo Provincial Chairman Jabulani Sibanda, constitutional lawyer Nikiwe Ncube, Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association Director Permanent Ngoma, and PPRIZ Director Gorden Moyo, who was one of the conveners.

The development was revealed by Mayor Coltart on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“I was due to speak this afternoon on the Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 but was told last night by the organisers that the police had declined permission for it to go ahead,” Coltart posted.

“The paranoia shown by Zanu‑PF over this Bill is quite remarkable and reveals their insecurity.”
