Suspected armed robbers have struck a Mukuru outlet in Bulawayo, fleeing with more than US$70 000 and R500 000, police confirmed. Officers from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are on the scene as investigations into the heist continue.

The latest robbery has reignited concerns about cash-in-transit and outlet security in the city, coming on the heels of the US$4 million Ecobank robbery in October 2024, one of Bulawayo's largest cash heists in recent history. Authorities are appealing to members of the public for any information that could aid in apprehending the suspects.

Investigators have not disclosed the number of suspects involved or whether any arrests have been made. The ZRP has urged businesses and financial outlets to remain vigilant and enhance security measures while the probe continues.
