Zimbabwe's national football team head coach, Marian Marinica, has announced a largely foreign-based squad for the upcoming Four Nations Tournament in Botswana, set to take place from March 23 to 31 during the FIFA international window.

The selection has sparked debate among fans and analysts, as only three locally based players were included: goalkeeper Future Sibanda, defender Andrew Mbeba, and veteran striker Knowledge Musona. Notably, vice-captain Marshall Munetsi, who was overlooked for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, was again absent.

Despite the limited local representation, Marinica's squad blends experience and emerging talent. Forward Tawanda Maswanhise of Motherwell is expected to spearhead the attack alongside Daniel Musendami and Musona, with additional attacking options including Prince Dube, Macauley Bonnie, and Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya.

Midfield leadership will be provided by captain Marvelous Nakamba, while Jonah Fabisch, a standout from AFCON, secures his place following impressive performances. Marinica also included newcomers Corbin Mthunzi of Ipswich Town and Shane Maroodza from FK Sarajevo, highlighting the coach's intent to inject fresh talent.

The tournament will see Zimbabwe face regional rivals Zambia and Malawi in a competitive three-day event in Francistown, offering Marinica an opportunity to fine-tune combinations and test squad depth ahead of future qualifiers and international fixtures.
