TikTok influencer faces theft charges

Prominent TikTok personality Caution Madiro Chikonamombe, popularly known as Secautions Chikonamombe, appeared before Bindura Magistrate Court on Friday facing a charge of theft. The 29-year-old influencer is accused of failing to deliver a Honda Fit after receiving full payment from a client.

According to court papers, in February last year, a Bindura resident, Brighton Njekete (27), requested Chikonamombe to import a Honda Fit GP5 from Japan. The influencer quoted a total price of US$8 000.

The client deposited US$3 000 into Chikonamombe's NMB bank account on March 5, 2025, and paid the remaining US$5 000 in cash on March 24, receiving a receipt for the full amount. Chikonamombe reportedly promised the vehicle would arrive by the end of April.

However, after a series of delays and excuses, Njekete lodged a police complaint, prompting Chikonamombe's arrest. The case is ongoing, and the influencer is expected to return to court for further proceedings.
