Rusape man jailed for sexual relations with minor

A 28‑year‑old Rusape man has been sentenced to an effective 30 months in prison after being convicted of engaging in sexual relations with a minor.
The conviction was handed down by the Rusape Magistrates' Court, following incidents that occurred in March 2026.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the offender proposed a romantic relationship to the minor, who accepted. The two reportedly met regularly, often when the victim was coming from school, and at times she would visit his home at night.
On 22 March 2026, the man invited the victim to his homestead, where they engaged in sexual intercourse.
The case came to light after the victim's grandmother noticed her absence overnight. Acting on information from neighbours who had observed the minor frequenting the accused's residence, she organised a search party.
