Highlanders draws frustrate fans

Fans of Highlanders FC are growing increasingly frustrated as their team earns a reputation for drawing matches, despite promising performances in the Castle Lager Premiership.

Head coach Benjani Mwaruwari is under mounting pressure to find a solution to the team’s biggest weakness - converting chances into goals.

Highlanders were held to a 0-0 draw by ZPC Kariba FC just after a 1-1 draw with Scottland FC in their last two outings, with Mwaruwari publicly expressing satisfaction with the performance. However, he acknowledged that scoring remains the key issue.

After seven matches without a win, Highlanders will play Scottland FC in the Independence trophy on the 18 April hoping to secure their first victory of the season.

There is growing optimism that Zambian forward Isaac Ngoma could provide the much-needed cutting edge, pending the completion of his registration.

Despite playing attractive and entertaining football, Highlanders have struggled to convert opportunities into goals - a problem some critics describe as "doing everything right except finishing."

There remains hope within the camp that results will soon improve.

Mwaruwari, a former striker himself, said he understands the frustration of failing to score.

"I used to be a striker, so I know how painful it is to try and score and fail," he said. "Very soon we will find the solution. From day one, our goal has been to win."

For Highlanders, the priority is clear - turn possession and chances into goals, and finally deliver a win to ease growing pressure from their supporters.
